I Fell In Love With Creating Over And Over

I love reading the biography page of other artists and even better... interviews with other artists on websites. It's such an amazing thing to learn someone else's story and to discover what motivates them, what inspires them, and even cooler---what started their passion to be creative. Typically when you read the stories one thing that sticks out for me is that artists will point to a life event, a person, or a time in their lives where they can pinpoint the moment they fell in love with creating.

For me it has been a little different.

The thing is, I can't remember a time when I haven't been creating something. It's just something I think I've always loved doing. I do credit my parents with recognizing that I loved it early on and encouraging me to use that passion as a way to cultivate my interests. My mom tells me that I was painting, coloring and drawing before I even really knew how to write my own name. When I look back those are my fondest moments of childhood. My parents would put music on the "big stereo" and I would sit at my little table and just spend what seemed like hours immersed in my own world. As I look back at different moments I've realized that while I may have been more heavily involved in creating at certain points than others, it was always there in one form or another. If I stepped away, it always called me back.

I think for me, I have fallen in love with the idea, the process, and the excitement of creating over and over again. Each time it feels like I am home again, like I've come to rest at who I really am.

Who or what inspires you to create?

-Michelle
