Here are the details:

The show is August 7th to August 21st at the Salemme Foundation.

Opening Night Reception is on Saturday, August 7th, 2010 at 7 pm.

Closing Night Reception is on Saturday, August 21st, 2010 at 7 pm.

The event is free to the public. The Salemme Foundation is located at 542 Hamilton St., Suite 203, Allentown, PA and will be open for viewing 11am to 2 pm, Monday through Friday, from August 7th through August 21st.

The show features over twenty-five artists, and is curated by Chen Arts members Heather Haas, EA Kafkalas and Chris Neyen. The artists include Michelle Bodamer, Cathy Botch, Marco Calderon, Eileen Cressman-Reeder, William DeRaymond, Tony Dong, Zehra Follweiler, Noelle Gabovitz, Rosemary Geseck, Heather Haas, Kate Hughes, Chris P Jones, Jessica Jones, EA Kafkalas, Glenn Lash, Lee Leckey, Rafael Lopez, Tracey Lopez, Georgine Miller, Dave "Ely" Molloy, Chris Neyen, Michelle Neifert, Ted Odoseey, Afua Opoku, Ramon Peralta, Barbara Soboleski, Leslie Solomon, David Sommers Fadeyibi Tunji, and Reinaldo Valentin.



I plan on attending both receptions. Come out and support your local artists, it looks like it will be a great show!

]]>Happy 4th of July!http://www.michellebodamer.com/blog/2010/7/5/happy-4th-of-july.html[Your Name Here]2010-07-05T05:37:40Z2010-07-05T05:37:40ZWe saw the fireworks in our town Saturday night from the hill in our neighborhood. As usual it was a good show, but a part of me still wanted to see fireworks on the actual holiday.

Well this weekend we decided to paint the downstairs of our house. As things were winding down, we decided at the last minute to drive to the next town to see their fireworks display!  I was so excited (fireworks two nights in a row!) that I quick grabbed my camera bag and we headed out the door.

It wasn't until we got there that I realized I didn't have my tripod in the car. But I did the best I could on the benches, and I think I still got a couple of nice shots of what was a beautiful show.


 

I heard another town next week is having their fireworks show, I can't wait to check it out. I hope everyone had a great holiday, happy 4th of July!

They are so much fun and we just love getting the chance to hang out with them. During our trip up to NYC, we spent time with them and I was able to shoot a few portraits in the process...







This last shot is of Justin and Elias after walking the High Line. It was a fun day with amazing weather for a walk through NYC.

A lot of awesome walks as we explored the Brooklyn Bridge, the High Line, and other parts of Manhattan. Here are a few shots from our weekend...












We also saw some fireworks Saturday night, which was an awesome prelude to next week's Fourth of July!

But I also love to photograph them and capture their cute faces. So here are my top five tips for photographing your pet:

1. Entice them to pose with treats. Dog biscuits, a piece of cheese, whatever they like, break it up into little pieces and you can bribe them to pose.

2. Find flattering light. Set yourself up for a great shot by bringing them to a spot in the house that has soft flattering light.

3. Remove other distractions. You will have more success getting the shots you want if you photograph them at a time of day when it is quiet and their attention is all on you.

4. Look for action shots. If they have a favorite bone or toy, getting them to play with this and then shooting photographs of them in action can lead to some really cute pictures.

5. Position yourself on their level.  Getting down to their level helps you see the world through their eyes and will also help you get a flattering portrait.

I pretty much love reading about any photographer who is shooting the night sky. 

Every day we have this amazing expansive miracle above our heads...the sky. It is filled with beautiful stars and if you really stop to think about how immense and amazing that is it can take your breath away. 

Seeing the stars reminds me of my grandfather. When I was a kid he helped me find the north star, venus, and anything else we could find through a telescope in the backyard. On a clear night I can look up at the stars and feel like that was only yesterday.

So when I was surfing for additional photography articles to read, this Pop Photo article on astronomical photography caught my attention. It's really interesting how the photographer uses a technique of several exposures which he then combines while processing.
