Happy 4th of July!

We saw the fireworks in our town Saturday night from the hill in our neighborhood. As usual it was a good show, but a part of me still wanted to see fireworks on the actual holiday.

Well this weekend we decided to paint the downstairs of our house. As things were winding down, we decided at the last minute to drive to the next town to see their fireworks display!  I was so excited (fireworks two nights in a row!) that I quick grabbed my camera bag and we headed out the door.

It wasn't until we got there that I realized I didn't have my tripod in the car. But I did the best I could on the benches, and I think I still got a couple of nice shots of what was a beautiful show.

I heard another town next week is having their fireworks show, I can't wait to check it out. I hope everyone had a great holiday, happy 4th of July!

A Beautiful Day at Peace Valley Lavender Farm!

I spent a beautiful day at the Peace Valley Lavender Farm over the weekend. I saw an ad for it on Facebook and decided that it warranted a fun excursion on Friday.  It was a hot summer day on Friday but the weather was still amazing.  When I drove up to the front gate it instantly struck me that the air carried the heavy scent of lavender and I felt a wave of relaxation wash over me.

I pulled my Jeep in to park on the stone driveway and took my camera inside the barn to explore the lavender store. When I walked in I was greeted by Roberta who invited me to look around, relax, and enjoy the afternoon.  Looking out of the window of the barn I noticed that she had a fantastic view of Lake Galena at Peace Valley Park. The hill was covered with beautiful lavender.

I purchased some lavender soap, shampoo, and lip balm. Roberta offered to hold it inside for me while I went exploring. With her approval I fired up my camera and strolled around the farm. Here is a sneak peek from my afternoon...

If you are looking for a fun summer activity, visiting this farm is a fun, relaxing afternoon. Walking around the farm was like something out of the pages of a novel. There were butterflies and the soft hum of bees. The sun had a late afternoon golden glow and it accentuated the unique details of the farm. I have also been using the lavender soap since my visit and I love it, it's a great way to start the day!
