FROM THE GARDEN

I love days like today when it is raining and everything looks so saturated in color. The sky is filled with overcast clouds that cast a soft white light on everything. The sound of raindrops hitting the roof always makes me want to curl up and take a nap, but instead I put in some studio time to work on a few projects. Of course after dinner I had to check on all of my plants as well. 

This past weekend we planted our tomato, hot pepper, and sweet pepper seedlings. I repotted a gerber daisy, and just noticed that I have more southern charm verbascum sprouts than yesterday. Still waiting on my ornamental purple pepper seeds and the butterfly bush. I should be receiving two more bare root roses to plant any day now from a nursery, so I'm looking forward to that. It made me smile that the rain stopped just long enough tonight for me to step out and get some cut flowers from the garden for a vase in the kitchen, in addition to a few photos. 

Rainy Day Photo Tip: To get your own flower shots, try moving your plants to a covered porch on an overcast day and positioning them so that they get soft, natural light. Then move in closer and take your photos from interesting angles to get the look that you want.
