A Family Visit to New York City!

Justin and I went up to NYC to visit family this weekend and we had an amazing time. A lot of awesome walks as we explored the Brooklyn Bridge, the High Line, and other parts of Manhattan. Here are a few shots from our weekend...

We also saw some fireworks Saturday night, which was an awesome prelude to next week's Fourth of July!

Check out new reaction photos on "a project"!

It's funny, I met Christa in an elevator, but we had some mutual acquaintances who kept telling me I had to meet her because we had so much in common. Turns out it's true!  Once I met her I realized we both love photography, amongst other things!

We have a joint blog that we leisurely post to when inspiration strikes. I love special projects because they are a great way to tap into any creativity you've put on the backburner while you are going through the motions of every day life. Can anyone relate to that? All of those ideas that swim in the back of your head, all of the creative impulses, can sometimes take a backseat to to reality. And that is where a creative special project saves the day!

A Project is where we can post photographs and blog in reaction to each other's creativity. Check it out!

A Beautiful Day at Peace Valley Lavender Farm!

I spent a beautiful day at the Peace Valley Lavender Farm over the weekend. I saw an ad for it on Facebook and decided that it warranted a fun excursion on Friday.  It was a hot summer day on Friday but the weather was still amazing.  When I drove up to the front gate it instantly struck me that the air carried the heavy scent of lavender and I felt a wave of relaxation wash over me.

I pulled my Jeep in to park on the stone driveway and took my camera inside the barn to explore the lavender store. When I walked in I was greeted by Roberta who invited me to look around, relax, and enjoy the afternoon.  Looking out of the window of the barn I noticed that she had a fantastic view of Lake Galena at Peace Valley Park. The hill was covered with beautiful lavender.

I purchased some lavender soap, shampoo, and lip balm. Roberta offered to hold it inside for me while I went exploring. With her approval I fired up my camera and strolled around the farm. Here is a sneak peek from my afternoon...

If you are looking for a fun summer activity, visiting this farm is a fun, relaxing afternoon. Walking around the farm was like something out of the pages of a novel. There were butterflies and the soft hum of bees. The sun had a late afternoon golden glow and it accentuated the unique details of the farm. I have also been using the lavender soap since my visit and I love it, it's a great way to start the day!
